Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a thermoplastic urethane film that goes over any painted surface.  It has been around since the mid-1950s; and has become known as “Clear Bra”.  You may even be able to remember cars in the 90’s rolling around with thick “Clear Bras” in the front that looked out of place and very noticeable.  Today, PPF is thinner in order to contour the curves and wrap around edges making it nearly invisible while standing near the vehicle.

We can apply it on all painted surfaces on the exterior of the vehicle and some interior pieces i.e.: screens, piano black dash, and center console pieces.  We can provide custom cut pieces, partial front high impact areas, full panel coverage and full vehicle coverage.

With all paint protection film, we recommend taking it off and replacing it every 10 years, no matter the warranty time frame.  Around this time is when film starts to degrade.  It will crack, peel, and even get gummy and sticky, thus making removal very time consuming and adds more risk for damage.  All our paint protection film brands meet or exceed this 10-year term.  Once this film is removed, it will be discarded and unable to reuse.  However, the paint underneath will be preserved and ready for its next new set of paint protection film.

First, we STRONGLY discourage use of any brushes and/or tunnel washes that touch your vehicle.  If driving daily, you need to wash your vehicle at least once a week.  If you’re only driving your vehicle on nice days, or only on a weekend trip, we recommend washing when done and storing it clean.  This helps keep any abnormal build up from occurring.  We recommend washing your vehicle with a 2-bucket wash system, self-service and/or rinse less wash.  A touchless car wash can be used if a "no wax" option is available. We always recommend treating it just like paint.  So, if you wax or apply sealants to your paint then wax or seal your PPF at the same time.  If you’re getting a ceramic coating applied to your vehicle while in our facility, we will apply it to the PPF as well.

*STEK DYNOShield Paint Protection Film comes with a hydrophobic infused top layer which does not need any more protection added, only washing is needed.  All waxes and sealants are not recommended by manufacturer.

Yes, absolutely! The newer the better. Before taking delivery, please give us a call to set up appointment to bring it in after dealer delivery. This will minimize the chance of chips, scratches or any other random paint defects that could occur. This also allows us to inspect your vehicle, and advise any defects from manufacturing, shipping or sitting on the dealership lot that may need to be addressed. Once you get a rock chip or deep scratch, the only way to make it 100% unnoticeable would be to repaint the entire panel.

We can. However, this is typically done after removing previous covered paint or after repainting restoration. This can also be done to preserve or hide unpleasant looking paint, bringing back depth and gloss, or preserve thinning factory paint.

Premium Shield has excellent clarity, gloss and self-healing abilities. However, it does require a wax or sealant to keep it protected and hydrophobic. STEK comes with a hydrophobic infused top layer, which does not need any more protection. Only washing is needed to keep the surface looking amazing for years to come.

We have used most ALL of the name brand PPF Films in the industry over the years and nothing comes close (in our opinion) to Premium Shield and STEK when compared againt long-term durability, sheen, and overall protection.

This Process can take 1-5 days depending on complexity of the job. After we are done, we always keep the vehicle overnight. This helps with initial set up, curing time, as well allows us to find any issues and address them as needed the following day.

The process of removing a microscopic layer of clear coat, to achieve a defect free mirror finish.  This process removes swirls, light scratches, holograms, automated car wash damage, water spots and etching from bird droppings.  Our goal is to always preserve as much of your original paint as possible.

The best way is to use machine polishing techniques.  We have polishers as small as a ½” up to 8” and utilize rotary, dual action (DA), forced rotation DA polishers.  We use a vast selection of pads, compounds and polishes depending on different manufacturer paint types for the best results.

There are a lot of factors to consider and it’s not an easy yes or no.  It depends on how hard or soft your paint is and how you take care of your vehicle.  Super soft paint such as some older Porsches will scratch even with the softest of microfibers and lubricated detail spray.  However, most Audi paint is very hard and is significantly less likely to scratch if using the proper washing and care techniques.  It also depends on how you will be protecting it after the Paint Correction.  Would you like to just get wax applied after Paint Correction on your vehicle or are you looking for ceramic coating or Paint Protection Film?  Traditional wax will last up to 6 weeks and provides no defect protection, a ceramic coating is a thick liquid layer that attaches itself to the top of the clear coat for up to a lifetime.

Here at KC Detailing we view Paint Correction as an art.  It is a much more in-depth process the damaging process known as a “Cut and Buff”.  Competitive detail shops run a buffer over your vehicle, then fill the paint with some good ol’ filler wax to shine it up for a few days.  This old school method may be good enough for some, but typically leaves buffer trails, swirls and generally an unfinished job.  We advise to set up a consultation with one of our specialists in order to explain the proper process to enhance your vehicle properly and preserve your paint.

Exterior detailing is the process of cleaning, prepping, and protecting your vehicle’s paint. We provide a full multi-step wash process and crevasse cleaning.  We dive deep into door jambs and places that get missed often by car washes. Once the wash is done and paint is clean, it’s time to exfoliate it with a clay bar. Clay bar removes built up contamination in the clear coat like iron, dirt, tar, sap, making the paint smooth and finally clean. Next, we dry and check it over for anything that may need extra attention. Then we proceed to polish the paint for ultimate gloss if chosen, and/or apply wax/sealant for protection. Our process is so thorough that our customers tell us their vehicles look better than when they bought them.

Depending on how you use and maintain your vehicle we recommend between 3-6 months. If using tunnel washes, our customers will usually come in once a year for that like new feel.

This service takes 4-8 hours for one person to complete, and this is based on all the steps performed to your vehicle. By time we are done; we have walked around your car over 15 times, providing over 15 different processes and touches over 50 different parts of your vehicle inspecting every surface diligently.
